StorieTree Professional Education trainings are designed for psychologists and allied professionals who value thoughtful engagement, ethical reflection, and affirming, inclusive learning environments. The guidance below is intended to help you prepare for participation and to support a learning space that is respectful, accessible, and generative for everyone.
Please ensure you have:
A reliable internet connection
A device capable of running Zoom (computer or tablet recommended)
A working speaker & microphone (headsets encouraged to reduce background noise)
A camera, when possible, to support connection and attendance verification
Alternative attendance verification methods are available for accessibility needs
Before the session:
Test your audio and video
Update Zoom if needed
Join from a quiet, private space whenever possible
Please plan for:
Arrival a few minutes early to sign in and settle
Remaining present for the full instructional time (excluding scheduled breaks)
Mobility, sensory, or seating needs—please reach out in advance if accommodations would be helpful
To protect the learning environment and the dignity of all participants:
Do not record sessions unless explicitly permitted
Use headphones or private spaces when others may overhear sensitive material
Do not share identifying details from case examples discussed in training
Respect confidentiality when colleagues share reflections or questions
What is shared in the learning space should remain within that space.
Adult learning works best when participants come prepared and engaged. You may find it helpful to:
Minimize multitasking and notifications during the session
Have a notebook or digital note-taking system ready
Take breaks as needed to meet your physical or cognitive needs
Ask questions and seek clarification when something is unclear
You are encouraged to attend to your needs in ways that allow you to stay present without disrupting others.
StorieTree trainings are collaborative learning spaces grounded in professional respect, cultural humility, and shared responsibility.
We ask participants to:
Engage with curiosity rather than assumption
Speak from your own experience and professional role
Allow space for multiple perspectives
Be mindful of airtime so others can participate
Use inclusive, respectful language
Disagreement and discomfort can be part of meaningful learning. When appropriate and safe, participants are encouraged to address misunderstandings directly and respectfully, asking questions or naming impact rather than intent. For more information, see the Encouragement of Direct, Respectful Communication section of our Grievance Information.
To support a positive experience for all, please avoid:
Side conversations (verbal or in chat) that distract from the session
Dominating discussion time
Dismissive or invalidating comments toward other participants
Multitasking in ways that interfere with attention or attendance verification
If concerns arise that cannot be addressed directly, StorieTree staff are available to support the learning environment.
Accessibility is a core value at StorieTree Professional Education. If you need additional accommodations to participate fully—such as captioning, alternative formats, pacing adjustments, or other supports—please contact us.
We welcome feedback about accessibility and continuously work to improve our programs.
By participating in StorieTree trainings, you are joining a professional learning community committed to ethical practice, affirming care, and shared growth. Thank you for helping create a space that is respectful, accessible, and meaningful for all.
